Online Virtual Training is Now CLOSED

Virtual Training is Open for Registration - CLOSED

UpdatedTuesday June 30, 2020 byCorliss Clark.

The Firebirds are now holding FREE virtual practices. Let’s keep our athletes active and engaged in exercising during these challenging times with COVID-19 and the need to practice social distancing.

Every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm

Every Saturday from 10:00 am -11:30 am

Register Online:  (at the below link)

Zoom Meeting Details will be provided before practice once you've registered.

Each practice will begin with a few minutes of "social time" for athletes to re-connect/connect with teammates and friends.

Then we will do a general warm-up involving jogging and light calisthenics.

We will break into "virtual rooms" based on age group to do dynamic flexibility and running technique drills.

Next will be an endurance run, where athletes will run on their own for 20-30 minutes. (IMPORTANT: Parents will need to supervise kids to make sure that they stay safe and run in a practical route around their home/neighborhood.)

After the endurance run, we will reconvene on Zoom for core/strength exercises and stretches around 7 pm.

Workouts and videos of all drills will be available online via TeamSnap and/or our website so that parents/athletes can access them to learn on their own outside of practice.

What parents/athletes need in order to participate:

Parents/athletes will need a laptop, smartphone, or tablet that is connected to WiFi or a mobile network to participate.

They should login to practice in a location that has enough room for exercise in place, inside or outside.  If WiFi/mobile signal permits, you can do it in your yard, driveway, parking lot, or at a park.  Please be sure to account for social distancing from non-family members wherever you decide to practice.

Athletes should dress in athletic clothing and running shoes as if they were doing a live practice; and have water.

UPDATE:  Our Outdoor season start continues to be delayed due to COVID-19.  We are awaiting updated communications from the CDC and Montgomery County Recreational Departments to determine when we will be able to practice on the track.  We expect an update by the end of June 2020.  The safety of our athletes is very important and our coaches continue to look for alternative plans that will allow some outdoor training in small groups.  Stay tuned for more updates as they are developed and we ask that everyone be responsible and follow the guidelines of Governor Hogan and other Federal officials.

Please read our Firebirds statement & guidelines that are attached.
